Bachelor Kisses

My car smells like the aftershave Penny gave me for Christmas. 'Bachelor Kisses' starts when I turn the key, jumps in loud and surprises me. I turn it down. There's no traffic on the way home and I'm back in Toowong, back in Bayliss Street, parking in front of the house, in about ten minutes. (p. 20)

What'll it be? he says, flipping over the pages of the menu and trying not to make eye contact with the trussed-up lobster in the adjacent tank. Feeling adventurous tonight? (p. 34)
