If Jacq had gone to the right kind of school she would have worked it out herself eventually. Chris Burns, on occasions when a derogatory reference seems necessary, is Friction. Sure, there'd be plenty of things you could do with Burns, but in an environment where masturbation jokes abound, Friction Burns is one place you're likely to end up.
    Somehow masturbation jokes just don't have quite the same cachet at home. It's another of those single-sex-school issues. Or, more specifically, something to do with male single-sex schools. Some of their ways of operating are internally logical, but mystifying when viewed from just outside the school gates. (p. 95)
